The 5 Shakespeare Songs for baritone/piano have now been type-set and are available from the Leighton Trust.  The Songs have already been widely performed, in Britain, Europe and the United States.  Copies are provided - a donation to the Leighton Trust is appreciated.

Also recently type-set is LONDON TOWN  for SATB with soprano and tenor solo.  This work, with words by John Masefield, is the only secular part song that Leighton wrote.    It was commissioned by the City of London Choir, and has most recently been performed in London by Commodio, conducted by Matthew Berry.  Copies are available gratis for perusal, and are for sale at £3.50.

The Kenneth Leighton Trust has recently published Leighton last composition, the Five Preludes for Piano. Conceived as part of a set of 24 Preludes, these 5 were the only ones completed before Leighton's death in 1988.

The first performance of the 5 Preludes was given by Stephen Coombs at the Pianoworks Festival in 1999.  Performances have also been given in the United States by Christopher Walters, Andover, Mass.

Maecenas Music now have 3 works by Leighton available. The latest of these is the Concerto for Oboe and String Orchestra. This early work was never performed at the time it was written  and  received  its Premiere at the 3 Choirs Festival, Hereford on August 24, 2000. The soloist was  the winner of the 1999 Isle of Wight Oboe Competition, Virginia  Shaw, who is with the Halle Orchestra. The performance was conducted by Paul Daniel, with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Also available from Maecenas are:

Improvisation - De Profundis   Leighton's only large scale work for solo harpsichord

Serenade for Flute/piano Op. 1 9a
Long thought lost, this early work, in a later revision was re-discovered in 1995. It has since proved very popular with flautists in the UK and abroad.  It has been recorded by Ken Smith (Principal flute of the Philharmonia Orchestra) and Paul Rhodes, on ASV.
